I feel like leave in conditioner is the MOST important product in your whole hair routine being that it is the base of both your routine and all styles. It is the end all and be all product for me! All I need is a good leave in conditioner.
My key requirements for a great leave in conditioner are:
- Providing moisture
- Providing style longevity
- Water MUST be the first ingredient
- Allows me to detangle hair easily
- Must be able to double as a styler!

Mielle Organics Organic White Peony Ultra Moisturizing Leave‑In Conditioner $12.99
This bottle has a spray nozzle which makes the application process easy. It holds up regarding moisture and styling. I bought this at Target, they have an abundance of Mielle Organics products. It’s a relatively small bottle for how much it costs, but organic products are always worth it.

Jane Carter “Curls To Go” Untangle Me Weightless Leave In Conditioner $8
This brand recently came out with a curly hairline called Curls To Go. Upon seeing the leave in conditioner for myself, I thought it was all wrong. The consistency looked too lightweight for my hair and the word “weightless” was even in the name. I thought “here goes another product trying to reduce a leave in conditioner to just detangler”. It was $8 for a decent sized bottle, and I know Jane Carter to be quality so I gave it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. Although it looks watery, this leave in is like a thick serum in texture and goes on your hair like actual conditioner. A small amount goes a long way, meaning it lasts forever. I love this leave-in conditioner, it checks of all requirements on my list and smells great. I found this at my local beauty supply store.

Shea Moisture Yucca & Plantain Anti-Breakage Strengthening Styling Milk $9.99
This is another product that is not meant to be a leave in conditioner but works as one for me. It’s a small bottle but it lasts a very long time as a little goes a long way. It is milky in texture and has a nice subtle smell that’s not overbearing. I also love the deep conditioner from this line which I talk about here!

Lottabody Moisturize Me Curl & Style Milk $4.99
This product is not really a leave in conditioner but can be used as one. If you follow me on Instagram, this is hands down one of my favorite products. It can be used as a leave in conditioner or a styler. Why I love it as a leave in conditioner is because it melts your hair, helping to detangle after your hair is freshly washed. Of course this is also helpful when you need to restyle your hair mid week. It’s super moisturizing, affordable, and who doesn’t love a bottle with a pump?

Kinky Curly Leave In/Detangler, Natural, Knot Today $11.99
I typically wouldn’t think this product wouldn’t work for my texture of hair, but it pleasantly surprised me. It was gifted to me buy a friend, and although I haven’t purchased it for myself I recommended it to my brother for his afro and he likes it a lot as well. This can also be easily found at Target. I finished my bottle quickly because I needed to use quite a bit for my hair to feel as moisturized as I wanted it to be!
